Start here.
You bought a PDF pattern and have never sewn. Here is the whole path in six steps, and which guide to open at each one.
The six steps
- Download the files and open the one that matches how you print: A4, US Letter, A0 or projector.
- Print only your size, with the other size layers switched off.
- Print the cover at Actual size and measure the two squares: 5 cm and 1 in.
- If the squares are right, print the rest. Then trim and tape the sheets in rows. The A0 file has nothing to tape, and the projector file has nothing to print.
- Cut the paper pattern out.
- Open the manual that comes with the pattern and follow it one step at a time.
Do not skip the squares. They are the only way to know the scale is right before you cut fabric.

How you know it is right

Questions
Can I use a PDF sewing pattern if I have never sewn?
Yes. These steps and guides are written for people who have never sewn, and each pattern comes with a manual.
What is the first thing to do with a PDF pattern?
Open the file that matches how you print, print only the cover at Actual size, and measure the two squares: 5 cm and 1 in.
Do I need a special printer?
No. A home printer with A4 or US Letter paper works. You can also send the A0 file to a copy shop or use the projector file.
Where is the manual?
It comes with the pattern, in English and in Portuguese, as two PDFs.
